Reporter - Invercargill (full-time permanent position)

Are you ready to put all your journalistic skills to use?

Allied Press Invercargill is looking for an experienced reporter to join its busy newsroom in the deep south.

They'll seek news for our flagship daily newspaper the Otago Daily Times and weekly publication Southland Express.

Our newest team member will have some experience as a journalist and be ready to report on everything from council meetings to court, sport to environment and everything in between. Covering the whole Southland Region, this position is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain experience in all areas.

They'll be a great writer and strong photographer and they'll have an unquenchable thirst for news. They'll have the potential to break stories of national and international significance, and those that matter to a community nestled in a city which is a gateway to adventure and fun.

We want them to thrive on pace and change, to work well under pressure, to be well organised and to have the flexibility to take direction and to drive and deliver their own ideas.

Court reporting experience is a bonus, as is shorthand. Knowledge of local body politics is desirable. The ability to shoot video, and a strong grasp of social media, is a bonus.
